mission
Authentic Therapists
As Black Therapists, we bring ourselves into the therapy room. Our culture, our history, the lessons from our own lived experiences, in addition to our professional training. We understand in practicing Holistic Health, how everything (mind, body, spirit) is interconnected and that in order to help clients achieve balance and harmony within themselves, we have to be mindful of who we are.
Vision
A Connected Community

Our vision is the ripple effect of healing throughout the generations - within our ancestors and our descendants. Healing the individual impacts the couple; healing the couple impacts the family; healing the family impacts the community; healing the community impacts our future. "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. " - African proverb.

The smartest love is love for yourself because that gives others access to the abundance of love within you.
Love yourself
so you can
love others

Connections are the foundation for healthy relationships. Healthy relationships are the foundation for the family. Healthy Black families create healthy Black communities, and healthy Black communities are what we want to create.

Our Smartt Love Story
Onaje and Raquelle Smartt are both graduates from the illustrious Hampton University. Though it wasn't until graduate school, Northwestern University and University of San Diego respectively, that they finally met. They immediately aligned in their professional vision and commitment to the culture. After both choosing to move to Oakland, California and practicing at two Black centered practices, they became Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Supervisors. Now it was time for Onaje's brainchild, Smartt Love, to come to fruition as they established their own group practice in 2025.

We are committed to serving our community in offering decolonized therapy, ancestral healing, and reclamation of our relationships and our families.
With love,
The Smartt's
